Level 12 in Dark Ages

How can you protect the puff shrooms from disappearning? I have tried over and over to replace them when they start to flash yet that never works. What else can I do? I have defeated all the other worlds and I have all the extra plants unlocked. What am I missing? How do I protect this plant?

Puff-shrooms fade over time, but they can be revived by Plant Food! Better yet, one Plant Food on one single Puff-shroom will revive (and cause damage from) each Puff-shroom on the board! So, when you see your Puff-shrooms starting to fade out, use Plant Food on any one of them to save them all.
