So, I'm having that pesky error that everyone having installation troubles with this game seems to have. I download the game, click install, and I receive the message "Error: The VC++ runtime redistributable package was not installed successfully. Setup cannot continue. {1}"
Here is the installation log I keep getting:

I know its an error with the 2013 64 bit redistributable package but no matter how I try I can't seem to fix it. I have done the following:
-uninstalled and reinstalled Origin
-deleted and redownloaded the game
-repaired the redistributable multiple times
-replaced the redistributable multiple times
-uninstalled and reinstalled the redistributable multiple times
-my computer is up to date

(Edit as of 6/12, 3:38 PM: I have also tried:

-a clean boot

-deleting my Origin cache)

Any and all help is appreciated: I have not been able to play this game once.

We're welcome @sarahthec

Maybe you can try to Reset your PC and not to reinstall your OS.

Rather than relying on system image backups, most people should just use the “Reset this PC” feature to restore your computer to its default operating system state. This also replaces the need to ever reinstall Windows  — just tell Windows to reset your PC and it’ll go back to its factory default settings.

Resetting lets you choose whether to keep your files or remove them, and then reinstalls Windows. To get started, go toSettings > Update & security > Reset this PC > Get started and choose an option.

And i wait a feedback from you.

All my best

  • Did you just reinstall that one redistributable or all of them ?
  • Did you try starting Origin as administrator ?

Hi @chocckola

First go to   C / Program Files (x86) / Origin Games

Once you are in the Origin folder go into your Sims 4 Folder / _Installer /DirectX  / redist

Once you are in this folder you will notice a bunch of .rar's.

Delete ALL of the .rar files OUT of the redist folder.

DO NOT DELETE: DSETUP.dll, dsetup32.dll, or DXSETUP.exe

Once the redist folder only has those 3 files that you DIDN'T delete are left, go back into Origin and hit the "Ready to Install" button again and i think you should by fine.Standard smile

If your issue persist follow this steps Thinking

Ensure that your Firewall and/or Antivirus are not blocking the connection.The easiest way would be adding an exception for the Origin Client.
You need to do this add firewall/antivirus exceptions for Origin and open the needed ports http://help.ea.com/en/article/connection-issues-with-origin/#1

 Clear Origin cache and for this you get a perfectly detailed post from @EA_Nils >>http://answers.ea.com/t5/Origin/my-origin-will-not-update-my-sims-4/m-p/4721983#M163410

Restart your machine .

You need to perform a Clean Boot: http://help.ea.com/en/article/how-to-clean-boot-your-pc/

Spoiler
you need to press the key combination: “Windows Key + R”;
In the “Run” window, type the message “msconfig” without quotes;
-you need to left click on the “OK” button;
Select “General” tab, from the toolbar and chose the feature called “ Selective startup”;
-uncheck the box found in the left of the message: “ Load startup items”;
Select “Service” tab, from the toolbar;
-check the box in the left of message: “Hide all Microsoft services”;
Left click on the “Disable all” button, found on the lower-right side of the window;
Left click on the “OK” button;
-a new message box will prompt on your display. Left click on the “Restart” button in order to restart your operating system.

NOTE save any open files and close all programs before restarting your computer.

@crinrict Thanks for your reply. I have reinstalled all the redistributables multiple times. However, I recently redownloaded the game again, so its automatically using my computer's stored version of the redistributables. The 64 bit 2013 one doesn't work whether I've replaced it with a new version or not, though. I might be replacing them incorrectly however. And upon right-clicking on Origin and clicking run as administrator I still receive the same error during installation.

@sarahthec you have restarted your PC? and if your issue persist you give REPAIR ?

THANK YOU!

this worked for me, i had the missing MSVCP120.dll error. i just downloaded all three. two didnt want to be installed the third file allowed itself to install and that fixed the issue. when the other two told me they didnt need to be installed i just closed them out. after the 3rd one installed, i rebooted, everything works. thanks for posting this fix

Your solution solved the problem, thank you!

Note: I did repair with the x86, and installed the x64 .exe files to make the error go away. The .arm could not be installed.
