Pop up and menu problems

I have a problem with my game where the menu items like social and skills etc make the game glitch and stop the main menu from opening. I can only save by going to manage worlds where it will open up the option to save, but then the game completely crashes and I have to restart. 
There are a few other issues which have appeared at the same time so I assume are related 

- when I go to CAS, a message pops up saying some content has been removed as I don’t have that pack? I don’t use CC or mods. 
- im not able to adopt mini sheep or goats as their icons on the computer are missing and have red crosses over them. 
- some content in the build/buy menu has red crosses over it

I recently purchased cottage living, horse ranch and a stuff pack. I also downloaded the update. 

any help would be very much appreciated!

@Linzk1  Please clear the EA App's cache:

restart your computer, and repair the game: open your game library, click Sims 4, and select Manage > Repair.

If that doesn't help, please let me know what antivirus you use.
