Repaired, uninstalled and reinstalled. The message states that it needs elevation. Sims 4 is the only EA APP game that I receive an error.

Try going to Game Options > Graphics. Then change the Display Type to "Windowed Fullscreen". Then click the "Apply Changes" button.

@TheSimsDirect No, that did not work. The colors are yellowed, the images are not sharp. It hurts my eyes to play. I have tried repairing and everything else. It is broken and unplayable - again.

  • Have you tried repairing the game?
  • If repairing doesn't work, and if you're seeing an error message, can you provide more details of what the error message says?

I tried repairing the game - didn't make any difference I still can't load any of my previous saves.   I'm not getting any error messages the game just hangs when I try to load a previous save. New game works perfect though.

Can't Minimize screen to go to my desktop. New update issue.

I need help with a new problem after the new update on Sept 2024. I cannot minimize my screen while in game play to go to my desktop or any other screen. In order for me to go to my desk top I have to exit Sims gam completely. I hope this is fixed or is there something I need to do?

Does the issue also occur when using the DX9 version of the game?

Can you try this:

- Look for where the game files are located. It might be in C:\Program Files\EA Games\The Sims 4\Game\Bin\ or somewhere similar
- Right-click on TS4_Launcher_x64 and select Properties.
- Click on the Compatibility tab and check the box for "Run this program as an administrator".
- Then click the Apply button, and then the OK button.
- Then try launching again.

I tried verifying files and install (all checked out). I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, nothing worked. I tried again using the -dx11 AND -dx9 (at different times) and still nothing.  Even went as far to restart PC twice, check drivers for updates, and what DX version I can run (I can run 9, 11, and 12). Unfortunately for me I can't even get into the game, and there is no error message or crash report showing up either (I checked in my files as well). When I press play on steam, EA will launch, the game opens for a split second and then immediately closes once "The Sims 4" pops up. I can't even get to the main menu to try to enable dx9. I'm at a loss for what to do now.

Finally fixed it by toggling DirectX9 and going back to full screen.

Good to hear! Would you be willing to share your dxdiag? It may help the team investigate why the DX11 version of the game wasn't working for you.
