Sul Sul Simmers!
With today's base game update, we've enabled the use of DirectX 11 (DX11) on an opt-in basis for PC/Windows users. If you're interested in enabling this feature, please see the patch notes here for instructions. Please note, if you've made any custom changes via mods or the configoverride folder you'll need to remove or adjust them before DirectX 11 will function.
We're creating a thread here to capture any issues or feedback you might have related to The Sims 4 and DirectX 11.
Before reporting an issue in this thread please ensure that your graphics drivers are fully up to date.
If you're reporting a bug or technical issue you believe is related to DirectX 11, please use the following template:
Platform:
Which language are you playing the game in?
How often does the bug occur?
What is your current game version number?
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed?
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves?
What happens when the bug occurs?
What do you expect to see?
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods?
To help us better understand the technical aspects of the issues, we would also appreciate if you could provide a DxDiag to us as well:
And finally, any screenshots, video footage or save files (Please send the link to @TheSimsDirect by clicking here, additional instructions here: http://x.ea.com/74420) you can share of issues occurring are of great value to us as well. We look forward to your feedback and working together to enhance your Simming experience!

Hey all,
We're locking this thread and starting up a new one here as we've released a patch that impacts how DirectX 11 and The Sims 4 function together.
Please use the thread linked above going forward.
Thanks!

Wow! One thing that I noticed so far is how smooth the game runs with DirectX 11. Like the panning in Sulani and San Myshuno is super smooth. I used to get a little camera studder when panning, but it's just so smooth with DirectX 11! Also, it fixed the edge smoothing issue where it would drastically show seem lines when edge smoothing was enabled. I had this problem since the beginning of TS4, but it's now gone! I am impressed! Implementing DirectX 11 was an excellent idea, especially since TS4 will be getting new content for many years to come! I'm glad that TS4 will continue to exist alongside TS5.
However, I'm still hoping for the removal of that shopping cart icon! Please make the right decision EA and remove it. Us, TS4 fans will still buy all your packs for TS4! We don't need that shopping cart icon in the game.
Anyways, excellent work on this update. This is a step in the right direction.
EDIT: It worked once, and now it's crashing at launch like others are reporting.
EDIT2: Disable edge smoothing, and it will run. You will have to turn it back once the game has launched.

Hello. How do I enable dx11? I enter - dx11 in the EA app but the game does not launch.

@EA_CadeSame as above, my game crashes at lunch when using the Dx11 command.

Wow, that's a nice surprise! And quite unexpected.
First tests show promissing results with a significant increase in fps from 60 to >100 in a heavily modded game with 4K graphics resolution.
Only issue I have at the moment is that in fullscreen mode alt-tab doesn't bring me back to the desktop.
But this is only the beginning of my tests, so I guess it's too early for a verdict.
Thank your very much for your efforts! Highly appreciated.

LOLOL! Disable edge smoothing, and then it will run! It's funny. It fixed the problem I was having with edge smoothing since the beginning of TS4, but yet you have to disable it to launch the game, and then reenable it when the game launches to get the effects.
