★ Novice
  1. Ive recently installed the sims 3 medieval through origin & have been trying to install it since yesterday. Everytime i try to install it, it’ll say directx error internal. Ive called ea & that didn’t work, i cleared the cache & that didn’t work either, anyone know any other ideas on what to do?

I apologize for the wait. Let's see if we can figure this out. Have you tried running it in Compatibility Mode with Windows 7?

To help track down what might be going on here, which version of Windows are you running? I'll be happy to look into it.

Hello,

I have the same issue, which has been really frustrating, as I have tried many things to solve it.
Which file should I change the compatibility mode ? I tried with Origin.exe but it doesn't work.

Hey there, @BeletteM.

It is possible to update the EXE of the game itself, but first you'd need to find the install location of your games.

To find and access the install location:

  1. In the upper menu, click on Origin and select Application Settings
  2. Click the Installs & Saves tab
  3. Copy the text from the Game library location
  4. Open File Explorer
  5. Paste the game library location text into the address bar, and press enter
  6. Find The Sims Medieval's folder and open it
  7. Find the file that ends in .exe and right click it, selecting Troubleshoot Compatibility

I hope that helps! Please let me know if you have any questions or run into any issues.

There is no file ending in .exe in under my sims medieval folder, what do I do from here?

Sul Sul, @emmasara123.

If you're not seeing the executable file from the install directory, which is the file type that starts the game, I would run a repair in Origin to make sure it's not missing.

One thing to ensure is that you're looking at the install directory and not the save folder, which can be in a different location. You can find the install directory using the steps previously listed.
