[The Sims 2 Ultimate] Stuck at 800x600

Hello everyone,

like many, I've used the code to download The Sims 2. Like many, I've downloaded it. Unlike many, I was presented a problem at the start;

Video resolution seems to be stuck on 800x600, with all the lowest settings possible. I have a very recent machine, so it's not underpowered at all.
After digging for a while on various forums, the issue seems to be that the game doesn't recognize newer graphic cards, and reverts to the integrated one on the motherboard. I tried to add manually my card to the list, but I couldn't find the folder on my Windows 7.

Any suggestions?
