Sims 2 TS2UPDO.exe stopped working

I have windows 8 and I have already installed the Sims 2 (DVD edition), University Life, Pets, and Open for Business. They work just fine. When I try to download Apartment Life, Bon Voyage, Seasons, or Nightlife it loads 100% and then asks me to insert the Sims 2 CD. When I do, it says that TS2UPDO.exe has stopped working. I have tried everything, such as changing my compatibility settings, downloading directx, trying to install patches. Nothing seems to be working. What do I do???  mileymad:

Can you try to patch the game to the latest version? The Sims 2 (original) Patch Help

I have tried to patch the games and they stop working as well. Any ideas?
