Sims 2 Super Collection M1 Mac - HDMI okay, DP/USB-C low res

★★ Novice

Using HDMI/HDMI, Sims 2 runs perfectly on my M1 Mini. When I use USB-C to DisplayPort Sims 2 doesn't recognize the graphics card so it loads 640 x 480 with no other options. See attached.

@Gnarlsburg are you trying to attach your Mac to another monitor? I'm kind of confused as to what you are trying to do. Please clarify what you are doing. Thank you! Standard smile

I don't want to use HDMI. But Sims 2 only works correctly via HDMI.

I want to throw away that cord and use USB-C to DV ONLY... but when I do that, the game only plays in low res.

@Gnarlsburg When the game runs correctly (via HDMI), does it also run at 144 Hz?

No. For some reason the HDMI defaults to 60 Hz or something. Nothing close to 144 which is why I prefer DV.

Hmmm. That's it. I used DV and forced 60 Hz and it recognized the graphics card. Thanks.

@Gnarlsburg You're welcome! I figured that it was the Refresh Rate because the Windows version also forces the lowest resolution if it's not 60 Hz.
