I have a Windows 10 PC and I downloaded SimCity Societies off of Origin. When I went to play after installing it, it wouldn't even get to the splash screen and just stopped, with an error message: "SimCity has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."
I tried running it in compatibility mode for both Vista and Windows 7, but no dice. And then I tried following the directions listed here, but again, no workee.
Is this game just too old? Am I SOL here?

If it won't run with Windows 10, you should be able to get a refund. It is ten years old now. That's really OLD in terms of game playability with current systems.

In the installation folder is a folder called "Launcher". I used that on my win10 pc to start the game. And it does! It is playable now. I tryed a lot like, click on every exe in the folder. Netfx64.exe dotfx.exe etc. etc. I installed a virtual drive with xp, put the installation folder for the game in Origin to that drive, installed the game there and it works!
If there are some questions just ask. I´ll be happy to answer them and help you if I can. Peace
