SimCity 2000 Special Edition

★★★ Novice

I just downloaded SimCity 2000 SE. It runs in a DOSBox.

Contents of DOSBox "melts" whenever I move the mouse.

Researched possible solutions:

1. In the dosbox.cnf file, I changed this value: "fullresolution=original " into "fullresolution=desktop"

Didn't work.

Tried various compatibility modes. Nothing worked.

Please Assist.

System:

OS: Win7 Home Premium 64 SP1

RAM: 4GB

CPU: Intel Core2Duo  E8400 @3.00Ghz

GPU: AMD Radeon 6900 HD Series

I'm sorry, but this is Answer HQ > SimCity English > Graphics Issues, correct?

If not, then sorry, but the EA Answer HQ is more complicated than it really should.

In any case, I am here to post a solution that I did not find here in the EA Answer HQ:

In the dosbox.cnf file, I changed this value:

output=ddraw to output=openglnb

This is the solution that solved my problem. There are other solutions posted in the internet, but none of those worked for me, so you have to go test the solutions out for yourself. Hopefully, others would find my solution in here and help them solve their dosbox graphics issues.

I can now play SimCity 2000 SE. Yes, oh the memories.

I just took an EA survey about the Answer HQ. I pray they listen.

Sorry, but the SC 2013 forum is specific to that one game, not generic to any / all games down its long past lineage.

That's where you and your question belong.  You are Off Topic here.
