GUYS I FINALLY SOLVED IT
tl;dr
make sure your antivirus is not loading any dll or hook for programs that are launched on your PC.
My antivirus loads a dll for every program that launches on my machine (to check if it is safe, quarantine it, etc...).
Easy anti-cheat does not like this, and quits the game.
There is no log entry anywhere for this behavior.
BUT!
I had the same thing happen to me with Back4Blood beta, but this time, there was a log entry in Windows event viewer! (under "Application")
So, i completely shut down my antivirus and made sure the dll is not loaded.
And now, Squadrons works! as well as Back4Blood, but only if i completely exit my antivirus.
Exclusions don't work, shutting down specific features doesn't work, it has to be shut down completely.
If you have completely shut down your antivirus, and this is still occuring, try uninstalling it.
If uninstalling the AV solves it, contact your AV vendor's support for a solution.
If none of the above solve is for you, i'm very sorry but there is nothing more i can help with, please create a new thread, and feel free to post a link to it in the comments.
Hope this helps some of you.

This is unbelievable. I just started experiencing this problem two weeks ago after months of zero issues, been slowly communicating back and forth with EA support without any solution. EA: "Hmm you bought it on Steam? Must be a Steam issue, talk to them.", Steam: "Oh this game, that's not us, talk to EA." AHHHHHHHHHH I JUST WANNA USE THE THING I PAID MONEY FOR

same problem here. I only want to play single player this anti cheat programme is clearly the problem they should just do away with it.
Tried:
Still not working whatsoever. Close to trying a reformat, but why should I have to!!!
Not I am playing via Xbox Game Pass for PC and EA, if it makes any difference

Managed to fix this at least for me....
Steps I took (not not all may be necessary, but just saying what I did):
1) Create a new Local Windows 10 Profile (was on a live account).
2) Went to my old profile and uninstalled both squadrons and EA Desktop
3) Deleted the following:
4) Restarted and logged into new profile
5) Installed EA Desktop (for me via the xbox app)
6) Downloaded and Installed Squadrons (default c: directory)
7) Started the game and hey presto.
Its worth noting originally this game has an issue it did not save any game progress. Then it refused to load.
i.e. It hadn't worked properly since day one.
I also uninstalled sophos antivirus (but don't think it did anything), and now windows defender is on default settings.
I hope this works for someone! Game no loads, saves and works in VR

FIXED FOR ME
Exited antivirus, or, in my case, my VPN completely.
Game started up right after.
Thanks to this thread!

August 2023, I downloaded the game from EA servers and there is not a patch included that resolve this issue. I had to shut down my antivirus and it worked. Looks that the antivirus was blocking some DLC files to start the game. EXCLUSION OPTION ON ANTIVIRUS DOES NOT WORK, YOU HAVE TO SHUT DOWN OR UNINSTALL IT. THaNKS NEO ragzgris FOR YOUR SUGGESTION IT WORKED FOR ME!
