Squadrons returns to desktop - no message

I have both Epic and Steam versions and tried both. The game starts (EAC spash screen disapears and I get the Octagon/Circle screen with the blinking dots in the square) and then it returns to desktop.

The Epic version is tied into the EA app (the EA app launches the game) while the Steam version doesn't show up in the EA app.

I don't think the issue is the EAC as one poster on Steam mentioned swaping the exe files which doesn't launch the EAC.

I have removed all other running programs except for Steam, EA and Epic.

Hi @mikeha4 Can we try the following if you have not so far?

• Repair/Verify your game based on which client you are launching from
• EA App - Repair (My Collection > Tile Dots > Repair)
• EGS - Repair (Library > Tile dots > Manage > Verify)
• Steam - Verify in your library
• EA App's Cache (Top Left Menu > Help > App Recovery) 
• Connection and Advance Connection Guides 
• Check for other applications that may be limiting EA App or Game performance
• Run the System File Checker tool then Check for Windows and GPU updates  
• Check Drivers, Default to High-Performance GPU: Troubleshooting Graphics issues 
• Restart your device in Clean Boot mode, then just try running the client and game

None of those suggestions made a difference.

Hi @mikeha4, Would it be possible to test on a different account/user on the device and seeing if this happens?

I created a new Windows user and had the same effect.

I do note that when I tried to start the game on my old laptop it worked and didn't show the octagon/circle load page but went right into selecting the accessibility options.

The game is creating CrashDump files (about 2.5 MB each) after each crash. Do you have the capability to debug MDMP files?

I opened the debug files in Visual Studios and the error is "The Thread tried to read from or write to a virtual address for which it does not have the appropriate access"

Google shows me various possible fixes. I tried changing my memory timing to default 2400 MHz with no effect.

I'm trying various things now but if anyone has any insight I'd love some.

Hey @mikeha4 Could we try the steps here to repair Easy Anti-cheat and check if this continues?

Repairing EAC had no effect.

Changed my memory timings to several other speeds, and it didn't do anything either.

I ran both windows memory diagnostic and my BIOS memory tester and both came out fine.

I have run the game in compatibility mode for windows 8 and 7 with no effect.

I'm running out of things to try...

Hi @mikeha4, To check have you ever disconnected the Steam or Epic account from your EA account before (or another EA account)?

I don't know, but probably not. I can see I'm connected with both Steam and Epic (along with PSN).

I have BF1, Mass Effect LE and Jedi Fallen Order linked between Steam and EA which all work fine.

I did have the original Origin app installed and that wasn't linked to anything as far as I know.
