multiplayer plants vs zombies garden warfare

hi i just want to know since my son wants me to play with him...i bought another controller but even if both of us are logged in and both controllers are  accepted /connected to the console we cant seem to do two players at the same time...is there a way for us to be able to play simultaneously together at pvz garden warfare? 

pls help!

You're only able to play with two people on the same console on Xbox One, unfortunately Xbox 360 does not allow this.

Thank you so much!!!Even the customer assistant in xbox didnt know that. Guess just wasted money in buying 1 extra controller...thanks again.
