Why is Split Screen Coop not worth playing?

My buddy and I just tried split screen coop... only to find out that the second player can't level up or earn any rewards.. wtf?  Who made this decision? This is pointless. I bought the game on Xbox One because it had split screen CooP and we can't even play online together.

. I've had it... EA does nothing but lie and cheat to get your money. You've earned 2 consecutive years of the Golden Poo award.. and going for a 3rd.

Splitscreen is more for bragging rights, but the first player gets all the profits.

That is NOT what was advertised.. and NOT why I bought the game. I bought the game so I could play with my friends on my Xbox One... My disappointment in EA and PvZ is severe.
