nsf underground xp version on windows 8.1

Has anyone tried to run original nfs underground on 8.1?. I tried to run in compatibility  mode for xp sp3 which it last ran on but game will not start, Same issue on EA game TrueCrime:Streets of LA. Are there any patches available that might help?.

@gremlin3165 How is Underground failing? If you try other Compatibility modes does that help?

Does restarting your system with a Clean Boot help at all?

True Crime series wasn't developed or published by EA, and I'm not sure of any specific troubleshooting steps for it.
