Need for speed the run not starting on windows (hardware issue)

[ Edited ]

Tried to launch NFS The Run on my Windows 11, eveything was working fine on the Windows 10 version with the same hardware.

Now all I get is the "game starting progress bar pop up" then it goes away and the Windows "wait" widget rotates blue a few times then nothing happens.

Been with support chat for hours -> no luck, they tell me post here.

tried all the recommendations:

- Safe Boot

- Cache clean

- etc

in addition I also did:

- Totaly wiped and reinstalled both EA App and NFS the Run (using Revo Uninstaller)

- use admin account

Absolutely  *no luck*  watsoever

To test my licence I reinstalled the game and downloaded the EA app on another machine running windows 10 and it's launching fine. Although I didn't FW block the game to access autolog but that's been working fine before so I am not worried.

Thank you for any help, I asked chat to compensate me with a working game, but they could not, EA!? What?

Here are my hardware details:

UPDATE 30 Nov 2023

I took the SSD out of my other machine (where it launches fine) because it was loading and I thought the the OS (windows 10 PRO) would probably work on the better machine, result is inconclusive so I am thinking it is a hardware issue the weird thing is that this game used to work fine on windows 10 and previously 7 on the same hardware ?! So my next plan is to completely reinstall windows 11 clean and try again...

Hi @trilbies

To check have you also tried the following?

If so, would it be possible to get a DxDiag file in a reply to the thread?

Any luck here ? I have the exact same issue on windows 10. Apparently the game got pulled out of the store too.

Imagine people pirating the game have a better experience than us buying the game lol

I installed windows atlas (11? Not sure), game runs fine.

So I veer towards a config/driver/update issue on my production machine.

V disappointed with windows 11 apart from nicer gui I am underwhelmed with the performance. I am running on a  ryzen 5950X and speed is okay but not super fast even though i am with os on an NVME black ssd 🙄🙄🙄🙄

Hi there,

Yes tried all  this no luck.

TBH I cannot be bothered trying to figure it out, I installed windows 10 on another Disk and it runs fine.

Incidentally F1 23 does not want to start claiming that the "AMD driver is too old" which is totally incorrect, the driver is waaaay more recent than required.

Anyway, I have learned to live with EA quirkiness and I understand that its not always possible to cover all aspects of an complex OS like windows.

Although I came back to windows after over a decade of using Linux as I found windows starting to be a bit better, just for games... 😁🤔🙄but here is the dxdiag report...
