Need For Speed Shift Startup Crash

Ok, so I’ve installed Need For Speed Shift, on my computer, but whenever I start the application, the game crashes, and I get an error message saying:

shift.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

I’ve verified that I have all the right specs which my pc exceeds the minimum requirements. I have a compatible OS (Windows XP SP3), I have like 3GB of RAM, my HD has the space to install the game, and Idk about the CPU, but it should work (I have an AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+). Plz help. Thx!

Is this an Origin download version or a DVD version? I recall something about an issue with Origin versus DVD, but that may have been Shift 2 instead of Shift 1.

I have a multi-boot system (Win XP, Win 7, Win 10), and both Shift 1 and Shift 2 (and the older NFS titles) are running fine from Windows XP. 

Origin is no longer working for Windows XP though.
