My son cannot Connect to Autolog. (fa2)

My son and I LOVE Need for Speed games. We would take turns on my PS4 and try to beat each other’s times. So, when we learned HPR (Hot Pursuit Remastered) would be on Switch, he was over the moon. We pre-ordered (from GameStop) both (physical) copies (PS4 and Switch) and the Switch edition arrived a few days ago. However, it cannot connect to Autolog. I completed my part as the Parent of the account, and the menu shown is on EA, not Nintendo. I checked the link and found nothing that should prevent him from multiplayer. He had an NSO account (Nintendo Switch Online) and had played multiplayer games before, such as Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Splatoon 2. I was told to put the Switch on docked mode and use it on a TV. I followed the instructions directly (power 1st, HDMI 2nd, console 3rd) yet the TV's only went from no cable connected to no signal (I also tried different HDMI cables). Is there any other way to fix this?

NOTE: It is a child account (he is 10 years old).

NOTE 2: As in the title, error code fa2 is shown.

I am having the same issue.  I bought a digital copy on PS4. My kids and I liked it so much I bought a digital copy on each of my kids Nintendo Switches so we can race each other.  They are 9 and 12.  I authorized both to play EA games online through the link sent by Nintendo.  Neither of them can connect to the autolog to do online play. They both get error fa2.  So I currently own three copies of a game we can't get to work. They play tons of online games on their switch.  I don't know why I can't get this one to work.

I have an EA account.  They do not.  Do I need to create those for them?  I only see how to add teenagers.

After spending too much time with EA technical support and providing screenshots, they feel the error is a connectivity issue.  I was told to contact Nintendo support.  My kids have no issues connecting to Fortnite, Splatoon 2, Rocket League, etc.  I asked about it being an age restriction and they said that should not be the issue on this game.

I then called Nintendo support and they went through all their troubleshooting and said it appears to be an EA issue. They thought it could be a age issue, but said that this isn't the message that typically pops up.

I bought the copies digital, so I am requesting a refund from Nintendo. I don't need three copies if we can't play together. I will just play on PS4 and we can take turns.

I am attaching the pictures of the screens I get.  The white screen pops up first, then the black screen with the fa2 in the bottom left.  Sorry for the low quality.  I don't know how to grab the screenshots from the switch.  I had to use my cell phone.

Nothing ever asks us to link to an EA account.  Both child Nintendo accounts show that EA is an authorized service on my Nintendo parent profile.

If someone is able resolve this, I would consider getting the games again.  I have too many hours invested already to keep trying.  I am done.

@chief_lbshonestly if you cant get past fa2, you cant sign in, making other accounts would be useless. They said going on to the game in docked mode should fix it, but something is wrong with his switch  (according to GameStop), so I was really just asking if there were any other solutions.

Interesting.  Why would docked mode make a difference? Unless you hard wire, it is still the same wifi network connection.  My kids rarely dock their switches. I wonder if it would it need to be docked every time you want to play online or just the first time? How would this work for someone who owns a Switch Lite and no dock? Not that it matters. I already returned the games.  Between EA and Nintendo, I spent several hours on the phone with tech support.  Nintendo finally deemed the games defective for me and offered a refund. It sounded like Nintendo has a policy against digital refunds, but felt this was a warranted scenario.  I was bummed.  I was looking forward to racing together.  If someone sorts this out, I will reconsider getting the game. But it better work, I don't think they will let me return it again! Until then, I can spend my money on games that work correctly.

Well you are very lucky to be hearing this as of I just saw a Google Discover post that someone posted about an update with multiple fixes with Autolog, the UI and everything else so that could be a good result for you as an update rolled out with bug fixes!

Hey dude ! This same thing happened to me 3-4 years ago when I was trying to play online Star Wars : Battlefront and couldn’t connect online. This was because I was under 13 yrs old. Because of child safety *, ea banned online multiplayer access for accounts under 13 (16 or 14 in other countries). Hope this helps !

I have the same exact problem and yes I have a Nintendo Switch Online membership for the family to be able to play online. It's a bug that EA and developers need to fix or else they need to recall this product on the Nintendo Switch platform for false advertisement as the game is label as "Everyone 10+". My twins both are 10years old and cannot connect to Autolog\Online even though any other online game on the switch works for them. We have three switches and three copies of this game as it is a single player with multiplayer only possible online and we wanted to play against each other. Using my adult account I have logged in with no issues on all three Switches but they can not on any of them. I even whitelisted the game on Nintendo parental controls for both child accounts and for one of my twins as a test I set them up in parental controls restrictions of "None" as this should allow to play software of any rating on the Switch but the same problem occurs. The problem as I conclude is that the EA Autolog servers need to be updated to detect which connections are coming from Nintendo Switch users and to allow EA's online self imposed restriction of anyone below the age of 13 be managed by the Nintendo Switch Parental Controls and to allow Online play for anyone based on the Game rating set by the ESRB which for this Nintendo switch game is listed on the front and back cover as "Everyone 10+ ENFANTS et ADULTES 10+"

For clarification I had already opened a case with EA support on this issue and they are clueless as this problem needs the Developers to look at it. All they did was point the finder at Nintendo. By reading this forum I can see that my next step of calling Nintendo is going to result in Nintendo pointing the finger back at EA. Again EA and Nintendo get the Devs to look at the problem ASAP as no one likes being the monkey in the middle.

If I'm wrong with my conclusion then we still have a problem anyway and I would like to know what EA and developers are doing about it. Please respond and post what the timed fix is to this issue and no my kids waiting 3 years for them to turn 13 is not the answer. As it stands this game should be avoided on the Nintendo Switch platform or anyone between the ages of 10 and 12 and possibly other platforms also as the life blood of the game is really the connection of competition that Autolog brings to the game. Without it this game is very stale.
