Just bought Need for speed most wanted. It won't launch on EA or Steam. please help!

When I open the game, it just return to EA app.

are you attempting to launch it from EA app or Steam?
If you open up the task manager, does a process with a executable name NFS13.exe start?

Me too, I bought NFS:Heat a while back and no problems with it. Recently I bought NFS: Payback but when I try to launch the game nothing happens, only EA App briefly shows me a messagge: Can't launch the game since it's being opened by another platform (in this case Steam).

I couldn't launch it either from steam(which will call EA app), or directly from EA app. After the launch is failed, there's no NFS process left over I can find in task manager.

Somehow, either restarted pc(a few times), or EA app quietly updated? It works now... On EA or Steam.

I'll update if there's more episode to it... Thanks for the help!!
