Had this problem a lot ever since the latest update. 

The solution is to restart FIFA, that what I do and it works.

What about trying: 

1. Go to CUSTOMIZE FIFA > EDIT TEAMS > CHANGE SQUADS/ROSTERS > RESET ALL SQUADS
2. Select YES to confirm.
3. Select DOWNLOAD UPDATES.
4. Select YES to confirm once more.
5. Wait until the download bar reaches 100% and you will get the message: "Latest Squads have been downloaded".

Can't even do this because I also get the error message "there was a problem getting your online information"

Was working fine until the last update.
