I'd have to imagine there are a LOT of copyright issues they'd need to work around to make that happen.  Licensing to use the names and images of a multitude of real-life artists, alongside the soundtrack, I can't imagine it would be worth the headache for them to try to get the green light to go ahead with a remaster/remake of the original.
