cant play mercinaries 2 offline [ Edited ]

I decided to buy mercs 2 since this was a childhood favorite. I know this game doesn't have online servers anymore but I wanted to play just the campaign. Is there no way for me to do that? Seems like when I try and start a new game offline it just keeps going back to the main menu... Did I just waste 8 dollars lol?
