Hello Team,
I recently purchased a Crysis 3 copy, I am having trouble to activate it. The error happens only with Crysis 3, all previous Crysis copies work fine.
I have searched the forum and found an identical issue where the problem was the firewall. I however was not able to resolve it in the same way.
See other thread
Trouble shooting done:
Reinstalled game: No change, same error
Tried running the game as admin: No change, same error message
Try to enable the EA access on the Firewall: It was already set to "Allow"
Disable Firewall: No change
Installed game on different computer: Same error appeared
Please advice how to contine:
Computer: I5-4690K
Graphic Card: Strix GTX960 4GB
Memory: 24 GB ram
OS: Windows 10
No VPN, manuell DNS, or tunnel software used for internet. It is a 200 Mb connection via Ethernet cable
Antivirus: Norton Security
Please get back to me to see how I can activate the Game

Hello Yahel_1,
thanks for taking the time to answer.
I have reset my dns, cleared all extra host "info" and started the game as admin after the restart.
The problem however is still there.
Here is all the information written on the Host file
# Copyright (c) 1993-2009 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host
# localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself.
# 127.0.0.1 localhost
# ::1 localhost
Any other ideas what might solve this?

Sorry for the delay with my response.
Even that extended troubleshooting did not solve the issue.
I contacted EA support afterwards, by the way, do not open a case with Chrome. It will not work. Only use IE when contacting EA.
The EA team sent me the below troubleshooting steps for the issue.
Here are the the list of troubleshooting steps that you may try on fixing your crashing issue.
- Meet minimum requirement. (http://help.ea.com/en/article/how-to-check-if-your-pc-meets-minimum-requirements/)
- Set up a graphic card gaming profile. (http://help.ea.com/en/article/setting-up-a-graphics-card-gaming-profile/)
- Try in Window Mode.
Depending on the game, how to run it in Window mode will differ.
Alt-Enter - This hot-key command will force window mode for most Windows applications.
Game Options - If you are able to get to the option settings in the game itself, an option for Window Mode will usually be available here.
Launcher Shortcut - In the desktop shortcut for the game, insert a -w behind the path in the Target box.
Ini files - Most games have a config.ini file that contains the settings that the game is us using. This would allow you to set Windows or Fullscreen mode with a trigger.
- Check programs that might conflict. (http://help.ea.com/en/article/programs-that-may-cause-conflicts-with-origin/)
- Clean registry, clear cache and temp files. (http://help.ea.com/en/article/how-to-use-ccleaner-to-fix-pc-issues/ )
- Update computer.
Operating system, DirectX Redistributable, >NET Framework, Microsoft Visual C++, and Video Card.
- Repair/update game. (http://help.ea.com/uk/article/i-cannot-load-my-game-from-origin-or-i-am-having-issues-in-game/)
- Unplug all USB devices (aside from mouse and keyboard).
- Disable User Account Control. (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-ie/windows/turn-user-account-control-on-off#1TC=windows-7)
- Disable Origin Overlay. (http://help.ea.com/en/article/origin-faq/#7a)
- Run the game in Admin Mode. (http://help.ea.com/uk/article/how-do-i-run-a-program-or-a-game-as-an-administrator/?
- Disable firewall/antivirus.
- Create a new test Admin Account. (http://help.ea.com/uk/article/how-to-create-a-new-admin-account/)
- Perform a clean boot. (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/929135)
- Reproduce the issue by trying it on a different PC.
unfortunately even this did not solve my problem.
They did ask me to try to activate the game from a different network.
Since I was too lazy to carry my pc a few blocks i decided to use my cellphone as a Hotspot.
and TADAAAA.
The game was able to activate and started.
Afterwards I was able to start the game using a normal internet connection.
Right now I am fighting a little with the resolution of Crysis 3 but that should be fixed soon.
Thanks for the help.
Hope this helps the next person who has the same problem.
