The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-earth 3

They hold the rights again. http://www.middleearth.com/#licensees . If they dont want to make a BFME 3 at least let us buy in origin the old ones. BFME 1 and BFME 2.

EA dropped the Lord of the Rings license in 2011. They can't sell or support the Battle for Middle-earth games because of this.

As was stated before, the rights to the Lord of the Rings video games lie with Warner Bros. (who released the Shadow of Mordor games), so EA can't develop a new one or even re-release the old ones that they published before. These games are abandonware.

That list only shows companies which had the license at any point in time, despite the caption. As Fred_vdp said, currently, only Warner Bros. Games has the license to publish and support video games with the Lord of the Rings license in any way, shape or form, with the exception of Standing Stone Games and their Lord of the Rings Online game.

It was the same thing with Titan Quest 2, so Crate created Grim Dawn, similar game, different name. Why not doing the same thing with Battle of Middlearth?

@Oh-Thicket  well, trouble is, if you look at the people's requests, that the fans want a new LOTR:BFME, not a substitute. Plus, a new game not being based on a known IP wouldn't bring in the profit expected by EA's shareholders. Big, public, corporations (you can insert any one you like) do not like risks, as they have to answer to their shareholders. But from time to time, they do try something new (Unravel and Fe are two examples for EA promoting something that would not generate the profit that a triple A game would). 

Your proposal is a good one, as there is a lack of good RTS games currently. And i do hope that someone will take it under consideration. 

As for Grim Dawn and Titan Quest...let's face it: both games are Diablo 1/2clones. Great clones, but clones nontheless. As a personal opinion, i consider Grim Dawn a better Diablo than Diablo 3, but that is just my personal view. 

I, too, want a new BFME game, but i know all too well that for now that's not possible. Unless Warner loses the license, a new BFME has zero chances to happen. Sad, but true. What is even worse, most of the games made by Warner in the LOTR universe are forgettable or mediocre at best. Even the Shadow series isn't exactly stellar. Decent games, but in the end...shallow.

Has There been any update on this as I would much apreceate a BFME 3 game as I really enjoyed the first 2 and the ROWK expansion pack?

@Kronos3019 sadly, no. Unless the Tolkien estate and Warner allow EA to use the license, an new BfME is not happening.

Though it may seem hopeless, I'm here to deliver the good news!!! We might have a chance to see an, Unofficial BFME III come to life. It's going to take the support of the Battle for Middle Earth Community to see it become a reality. It really has the potential to be what we've all been waiting for.
