Hey

I just tried to install Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part 2 through Origin. When I try to install the game I keep failing the release date check. My internet connection is fine and all my anti virus/firewalls are disabled. What do I do?

Thanks

Try my solution for Alice:Madness Returns. If the tool ist the same securom/sony dadc verfification, it should work the same way as it does for Madness Returns.

The only difference might be, that the verification process in task manager has a different name.

Hello,

Try changing your system date to 2011, run the Release Date Check again, then revert the changes back to the current date. If you don't know how to change your Computers date, you can find out how to do so here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-au/windows/set-clock#1TC=windows-7

I hope it works for you.

[HOW TO] Resolve "Release Date Check Failed" error

Community Manager

Greetings everyone,

For those of you encountering a "Release Date Check Failed" error message when attempting to play, please follow the steps below:

  1. If you are installing from the Origin Client, we have published a new build for you. Please uninstall and reinstall once more.
  2. If you are using the DVDs to install, please download the following linked file: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2
Next copy this file from your downloads into your installation folder and replace the existing hp8.exe file.

If you are still encountering this exact issue afterwards, please create an Origin Error Report ID and post its ID as highlighted in red in the spoiler below.

Spoiler
  1. Open Origin.
  2. From the menu on the top choose "Help"
  3. Select "Origin Error Reporter" (You can read more about it here: http://download.dm.origin.com/oer/en_GB.html )

You will see three screens as shown below.

  1. For type of error select "Downloading Games"
  2. For the description of the problem, please include a brief description (copy/paste of your first post should do) and include a link to your forum post.
  3. Check the box to share diagnostic information and click on "Send Report"
  4. The error reporter will show the second screenshot from below and will then show the third screenshot when finished. On the third one mark and choose to copy (or write down) the Error Report ID text string (bolded) and post it here.

With this ID we will be able to take a closer look at what exactly has been going on. Thank you very much for taking a look in advance.

If you are encountering another issue, please describe your issue in as much detail as possible.

Thank you,
Nils

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2

Hi! My PC has stopped being able to read CDs, and I really want to play HP8. The problem is that the game needs the disk to run. Can you please send me a no-CD fix? I would really appreciate your help.

@PanStefanb01 Hi,

First off, we have some CD-ROM Troubleshooting available here: https://help.ea.com/en/article/cd-rom-troubleshooting/

If that does not work, I would suggest that you instead use the Origin Client in order to install the game.

You will first want to download and install the Origin Client: https://www.origin.com/download

Next, start the Origin Client with administrator rights: http://help.ea.com/en/article/how-do-i-run-a-program-or-a-game-as-an-administrator/

You can then log in with your account, and register your game: https://help.ea.com/en/article/redeem-your-serial-code-in-origin/

Now click on the "My Games" tab within the client.

There you will find a box tile of your game. Click it and choose download.

Once the download and installation has concluded, you can click the game tile again and choose play!

Let us know if you run into any issues on the way.

Cheers,

Nils
