If you would like to revisit the classic EA games that you own but need help running them on a newer version of Windows, don't fret! While we don't officially support these legacy titles any longer, we realize that there are still amazing game experiences to be had in these games, as well as a rich heritage.
Please note that these steps are unsupported, and to be used at your own risk. We unfortunately can't be liable for unintended consequences when attempting the following possible solutions:

  • Run a Program (game) in Compatibility Mode in Windows 7
  1. Right click on the program's shortcut (LNK file), .EXE file, BAT file, CMD file, or MSI file.
  2. Click on Properties.
  3. Click on the Compatibility tab. Note:  If the Compatibility options are grayed out, then it is a 64-bit program and cannot be changed.
  4. Check the Run this program in compatibility mode for box.
  5. Click on the drop down menu arrow and select which version of Windows the program was made for.
Note: Always pick the latest Windows version the program was written for to have a better chance of it running properly in Windows 7.

  • Install a Windows95 Virtual Machine with Microsoft’s Virtual PC 2007
  1. Download and install Microsoft Virtual PC 2007
  2. Run Virtual PC 2007
  3. A Virtual PC Console window should appear. Click New…
  4. Select Create a virtual machine and click Next
  5. Name your virtual machine and click Next
  6. The default Operating system can be left as Other and click Next
  7. Select Using the recommended RAM and click Next
  8. Select A new virtual hard disk and click Next
  9. Select disk location and adjust the size (5000MB) and click Next
  10. Click on Finish
  11. Now you can insert your Windows 95 disk to your CD-ROM drive. Select Windows95 VM and click on Start
Note: You'll need a working Windows 95 Install Disk to use this method.

  • Try using the Application Compatibility Toolkit (ACT).
  1. Download ACT for free on the Microsoft site (Choose ‘ApplicationCompatibilityToolkitSetup.exe’)
  2. Run the downloaded file to begin installation.
  3. Accept the default settings. Note: You can choose the installation location to a specific drive or folder.
  4. Once the installation is complete, you have the option to use a tool within ACT called the Standard User Analyzer to monitor potential problems you may encounter.
  5. Click Start > All Programs > Microsoft Application Compatibility Toolkit > Developer Tester Tools > Standard User Analyzer
  6. When the SUA appears, click Browse. Navigate to and select the .exe file for your old program.
  7. Click Launch, then click Yes to confirm the deletion of AppVerifier logs.
  8. Check Always delete the logs without asking me again in the future.
  • Setup and Install the DosBox Emulator *This option is an unsupported by EA
  1. Download DosBox here.
  2. Follow the installations and troubleshooting steps found at the DosBox tutorial page.

Best of luck, and we hope this helps you re-live your fond gaming moments!
