I am talking about the original Crysis here. The first game.
I have disabled compatibility assistant (and restarted my PC after), tried literally every compatibility option (and mix of them) under the sun, 64bit patch, disabled antivirus, DX 9 mode. Nothing seems to be working.
I just get a black screen for a few seconds and then CTD.
This unacceptable, I want to play this game.
Windows 10 64bit

R9 380 4GB

Unfortunately I cant change my accepted solution to this post.

Just because I have just seen the following and it may be a quick fix, please see the following link and set your color depth to True Color (32-Bit):

Retry after that and let us know your results here, thanks.

That wont work as I am running Windows 10 which I specified in the subject.I found another way to get to the adapter and monitor settings but the option to select color depth is not available. However it would seem I am already running the monitor in 32bit color mode.

That's an older game so, running it in Windows 8 or earlier compatibility mode may get it working for you. Right click on the start up icon, choose properties then, the compatibility tab, start at Windows 8 and work your way down to see if any of them work for you.

Already tried that, no good.
I even mentioned this before. @DarkAmaranth1966

Thanks @DarkAmaranth1966

well actually Windows 8 was the only option I didn't, I tried Windows 7 and Vista but completely ignored 8.

If that doesn't work, try a Clean Boot.
With networking of course, just to be sure nothing else on your computer is interfering with the game.
I know this sort of troubleshooting is a pain, but, when the basics don't work, it's all we can do.

@DarkAmaranth1966
I found the issue, it still has securom so it's not going to work anyway.

Yeah, you can't run SecuRom on Windows 10 - thank you Microsoft. Maybe someday EA will get around to fixing the older games. In the meantime there are lots of newer games to enjoy.
