Apotheon - game breaking error

I love Apotheon, I really do, I had it on PS4 and wanted it on PC, so I bought it. I played for a bit, i made a manual save before attempting to kill the first boss. I died so i reloaded the last save, i get an error message saying "Error occured. Hit 'continue' to keep playing. If this happens repeatedly, try restarting game or loading an older saved game"

I tried loading the autosaves instead, every single one displayed the same error, I tried restarting the game, every save is the same and wont load, sometimes this crashes the game and the screen flickers. Closing the game doesnt close it, it continues to run in the background, i still hear the ingame music playing even though I quit the game, task manager is the only way to fully quit the game, or exiting Origin. I disabled cloud saves and deleted my saves, repaired the game, tried again, all newly made saves show the same message when loading back up a save. I tried reinstalling the game and deleting saves, then repairing the game, all newly made saves still show the same error when loading in.

Ive tried every possible thing, all my software is up to date, i installed it correctly, tried common solution including reinstalling the software needed to run the game, and nothing will fix this, Apotheon is completely unplayable for me on PC. Unless i play the game all in one go, I cant play Apotheon, or dying either, because dying causes the same issue :/ I installed Apotheon on the latest version of Origin, through Origin Access as the game popped up in the vault for me to download and play.

Sorry to hear that you are having issues @WaywardGoat.

As Apotheon is a nonEA title there may not be a lot that I can do to assist but I have seen others fix similar issues with the game by installing the game to the C drive. If you have it installed to another partition would you try installing it to the C drive and then move your save over and try the game again?

Let me know how you get on.

I tried what you suggested and unfortunately to no avail, my game still didn't load properly, even when deleting all saves and making a new one :/ I also asked on Steam and nobody has any idea. Apotheon crashed a lot on PS4 but it was possible to play, its just a very buggy game. Ill have to email the devs directly. Thank you for the help though, I really appreciate the effort considering how unusual this issue may be

Glad to be of help @WaywardGoat just sorry that I couldn't fix the issue.

I had issues with it crashing on PS4 but nothing major so far on PC. If you do find a solution please share it here in case others have the same issue.

I am experiencing this right now. Moving the game to the C drive is not an option for me.

On this system my C drive in a 256 GB NVME drive and the installation drive is my larger platter drive.

I know that EA cannot do anything about this, but the game is sold on your platform so you do have the ability to lean on the developer to hold them accountable for these issues.

Apotheon - Still Broken

★★★ Newbie

Okay, I really want to love this game. It has everything I like. Greek mythos, awesome art, great gameplay...
But I can't load a single save.
Yes, it's installed on my C drive. Literally NO ONE has a fix for this? Last topic posted about it was may which EA marked as "SOLVED" and uh... no solutions.

"Error occured. Hit 'continue' to keep playing. If this happens repeatedly, try restarting game or loading an older saved game"

Every. DAMN. TIME.

Re: Apotheon - game breaking error

[ Edited ]

@Nelchael72 sadly, this is not an EA game. It's sold through the Origin store, but it seems that the devs do not care much about the Origin release. Their focus seem to be the Steam releases, something that i've seen with other devs/publishers, too. They release their game on other platforms, but they quickly forget about those platforms and focus only on their platform of choice (most cases, that is Steam).

The best thing you can do is to remember the devs about the Origin version, their support email being listed here

The devs are the only ones that can fix the Origin version of the game or offer a genuine support for it.

I do not work for EA and i am not associated with the company in any way. I am a player just like you, trying to help wherever i can.I will not answer to any unsolicited PM.

I did what you said shortly after posting this thread. I thoroughly explained the issue and I heard absolutely nothing back. Seems they aren’t really fussed about the Origin version of the game.
