DLC/Patch Issue

I downloaded the black emporioum dlc and its not letting me carry the dog around with me...i was told to install the latests patch...but when i click on install patch...it says dragon age 2 isnt on my computer but it is....and i was told to do a "clean boot" did that and it still wont let me install the patch...so if anyon can help me please let me know what i dneed to do to fix this
