Battlefield 1942 on Windows 10 64-Bit System - Won't launch

Just purchased the Anthology from Amazon and installed on a 64-bit system, set up on Windows 7 but "upgraded" to Windows 10 before the BF 1942 install.  Won't launch - big surprise?  Set the exe file to run under XP Service Pack 3 mode, but no go ...  Any help?

and yes ea will not make a no cd patch for bf1942  they drop support over 2 years ago

Mine problem is with the dlcs 'cuz i have both versions of the game (origin and CDs)but the origin version doesn't include the dlcs (unhappily). I installed the version over the CD version and it works but it doesn't include the dlcs. Still looking for an answer for it. Tried to contacted an advisor but the result were negative . If you are wondering how i got the origin version of the game i just redeemed the code in the origin and it worked (it was a few months ago so i really don't know if it is gonna work but is worth the risk) and download it after installing the CD version. I just hope that EA creates  digital copies of the dlcs and others old legacy games. obs: sorry for my English.

I recently purchased a new laptop with Windows 10 pre-installed. I loaded all of the BF1942 CDs to include "Road to Rome" and "Secret Weapons of WWII." Initially I could click on the BF1942.exe and NOTHING would happen. On a previous Win 7 laptop I had downloaded and installed a BF1942 patch  ( http://team-simple.org/download/bf1942-v1.612-retail-patched.zip )    from http://team-simple.org/. Once installed BF1942 ran without a problem.

Two things I have found however, 

1. I tried to be smart and copied a previous profile from my old Windows 7 computer. This caused me to get a black screen when I tried to start any server connection. The game itself would start, but any server (MAP) connection would go black screen, play music and lock the computer.  The only way to recover was ALT-CTL-DEL , user log out and restart. If I used the DEFAULT PLAYER profile I had no problem, only when I attempted to used the copied profile. I deleted the copied profile, recreated a new profile and had no further problem.

2. I started playing with the resolution in the "video" settings in hopes of increasing the resolution to match my laptops settings. This proved problematic and could result in the game locking up when using the ESC key to exit. instead of returning to the server screen.

are sure  you patched up bf1942  ? did you install patch 1.6 and after that 1.61b   ?  before installed  the gamespy patch

also when you tried to  save your  profile  did you  make backup from the Settings folder  ? you need full folder to save  a profile  

you can find this folder in C:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Battlefield 1942\Mods\bf1942

it got patch 1.6 1.61b and the gamespy patch plus punkbuster patch

when you install 1.6 and 1.61b  you will need to reinstall the gamespy patch

I downloaded the 1.612 retail patch and installed per the instructions in the zip file. I did not install any other patches.

Yes I copied the full  profile folder directly from the MODS/bf1942/settings/profiles directory on the old computer and pasted into the MODS/bf1942/settings/profiles directory. The point is, I found creating the same name as a new profile on the Windows 10 computer worked and the copy didn't.

1.612 is the gamespy update  please download my pack  and install see if  the game works after

My basic BF1942 worked after installing 1.612 and was able to run the original without problem.

I had also installed DC and was having a problem with PunkBuster on those servers. I would constantly be kicked. I copied my existing working  BF1942 directory to keep it.. I then downloaded your Pack and installed in the order your identified. I am now able  to play the original mods as well as DC and the PunkBuster update solved that issue.

I will let you know if there are any issues.

windows by default can open zip so somehow you put a program on computer that removed that option i found a topic about this on windows forum so you got try this
