How to clear Origin cache on a Mac

[ Edited ]

"Clearing the cache" is something users often do in a bid to try and fix various issues with Origin. This is a fruitless task on Mac due to the hidden Preference and Library files which also need clearing and are often overlooked. EA have made available a fantastic tool called the Origin Reset Tool for Mac users. This tool removes 99% of these other files and folders, at least enough to normally fix Origin issues such as:

  • Origin login problems
  • Game Library issues
  • Games not correctly updating or repairing
  • Blank Origin screen

The Origin Reset Tool can be downloaded here - https://help.ea.com/en/help/origin/origin/how-to-reset-origin-on-mac/

Click on the +:

Then follow the instructions to download the tool and run the script.

If you are still having issues then you should try manually resetting Origin which removes the couple of files the reset tool misses - https://bluebellflora.com/how-to-uninstall-origin-on-a-mac/

If you're still having issues it is advisable to manually reset Origin, uninstall it, then re-download a fresh copy of Origin from here and install it. This will not affect your installed games.,
