So why are origin download speeds bad all the time? I have a 100mbps connection, there is no excuse foe this trash. Steam can download a 50gb game in like 5 min, but a 23gb game on origin is taking 5 hours??? And I know the servers are not flooded as nobody really uses origin, and its like this all the time. All ports are open for origin, open on all firewalls, and running as administrator.

If you are seeing slower speeds when downloading then this points to an issue most likely with your network or how your ISP is routing your data. I tested this at home a couple weeks back when someone else posts about the speeds being throttled and was hitting download speeds well in excess of 30MBS. If you are still seeing slow downloads then this you can try the following steps:
You can also try using Safe Mode Downloading via Origin which is under Application Settings, Advanced

You're not going to like what I tell you, but Origin/EA servers actually throttle speeds. Why I don't know, and EA's aware of it but they keep sidestepping the question when it's asked and they will try to blame everything under the sun for the issue. This issue has been going on for over 4-5+ years at the very least, so don't expect this to get fixed anytime soon.

thank you, I expected as much from this toxic company.

I'm not trying to be toxic, I'm being serious. I've been trying to deal with their problems for yeas and I'm exhausted.
Some people really don't like hearing the real reason, so i meant it as a disclaimer.

As you can see Origin download speeds are currently fine. I have just tested it and taken the above screenshot. It's also worth noting that no other users are currently reporting download speed issues.
I'd recommend going trying the following if you have already set up your ports correctly and made an exception for Origin in your Antivirus / Firewall software:
If you continue to see poor download speeds then you should get in contact with your ISP to help you get to the source of the problem.
I can assure you that the issue does not lie with the Origin clients download capabilities.

that's odd as I have Uplay, steam, GOG, and Battlenet running one at a time to see what i'm getting there, and its about 8-10mbps and I have a 100mbps connection. Origin is the only one under performing by 600%-900% which is a huge slap in the face to me as a customer. I have origin on all 3 of my firewalls exception list, ports are all forwarded, I did a full network reset in windows, and I have reset my router and modem. I also happen to have a network engineer from apple sitting next to me to analyze this situation, It's clearly not a problem on my part. 5 hours to download a 23gb file is extremely frustrating, especially when its a timed beta.

@snipeshot9111 No problem. Over the internet sometimes it's hard to tell someone's tone. It's all good.
@EA_AidanWere those numbers taken from EA at the work place or was that doctored? If you look at this thread, this one, or maybe this one.... wait what about this SEARCH? There's at LEAST 4+ instances of people complaining about the speeds and that's just on the EA forums! Maybe this Reddit post and other website posts will prove to you that the problem's more widespread that you guys at EA would lead people to believe. There's 10 examples but maybe you want more? Link Link Link. Link
Also it's funny that you mention my ISP, as they stated that they've gotten a few calls about the same issue and after they checked, my ISP ALSO suggested that it was your servers. You're proving my point about you guys playing the blame game. Again when I'm NOT using Origin I can get above 20 MB/s. Usually i'm in the 60-80 MB/s range MINIMUM on Steam and Firefox as I've seen Blizzard's Battle.net client hit 100 MB/s no problem (As Battle.net caps pre-loaded patches at 100 MB/s but their regular patch scheduleoften exceedes 100 MB/s).
IT student here and even i can tell that SOMETHING is going on with your download speeds EA. If we really want, I can start taking screenshots and I can install wireshark and other IT programs I've used in class to help prove some things

I am fairly certain origin cdn are actually akamai servers so when you refer to the issue "is your servers" we are talking akamai servers, these will be GEODNS based so changing DNS servers can have an impact.
sometimes why if someone is using googles dns, the ISP dns can perform better as it is pointing to a much closer cdn, this is just an example not applicable in all cases (like for me below).
some example urls to do a nslookup with, all are akamai servers for me
static.cdn.ea.com
akamai.cdn.ea.com
Try something like the below command and see if you can see the download connection for origin when downloading to see where it is going
Netstat -n -p tcp -b | more
Example in spoiler my ISP DNS and googles are different locations
C:\WINDOWS\system32>nslookup static.cdn.ea.com
Server: router.asus.com
Address: 192.168.1.1
Non-authoritative answer:
Name: a1560.g.akamai.net
Addresses: 23.192.239.111
23.192.239.95
Aliases: static.cdn.ea.com
static.ea.com.edgesuite.net
C:\WINDOWS\system32>nslookup static.cdn.ea.com 8.8.8.8
Server: google-public-dns-a.google.com
Address: 8.8.8.8
Non-authoritative answer:
Name: a1560.g.akamai.net
Addresses: 184.84.165.131
184.84.165.138
Aliases: static.cdn.ea.com
static.ea.com.edgesuite.net
in actual fact using googles dns is better for me in this instance see the tracert in spoiler below to both the IP address resolved for my ISP DNS and Googles DNS above, i expect the google one to perform better as it only has 5 hops between me and them and is local, the ISP one is routing across states and network borders
(bad ISP dns server why arent you pointing me to the one in my state like google dns does.....)
