I just tested this on my personal account and I got the exact same error message. I passed it on to the Origin team and they encountered the same issue.

@behindmelol This issue probably won't be resolved before the Sims 4 sale ends, if that's what you're hoping for. Instead, you could buy the base game and play it for a couple hours right away. If it's not what worth the sale price, you could request a refund within 24 hours of launching it for the first time.

You do need to make the request within 14 days of buying the game as well, regardless of whether you've played it.

Every time I've tried downloading the demo I get a message about a "failed checkout". Is the demo still available or is there some other issue?
My laptop: A HP Model 15, bought back in 2017-2018, with an Intel core i3 preinstalled.
