the sims 4

Every time ive tried to launch the sims 4, it just goes to the white screen before the Maxis and EA credit things, and then just wont load. then when i try and close the window, it wont close and the only way i can get rid of the window to try again is if i restart my entire laptop. I don't want to keep doing this just to be able to play a single game, and i am nervous to try uninstalling and re-installing the game in case i lose my game packs and expansion packs.

Occasionally it loads and works, but that's about a 1 in 5 chance. what do i do?
