Sorry to hear that you are having issues @annamairdavies.
Can I ask with which Sims game are you having the issue and on what platform you are playing?
If you have any mods installed can you remove them all and then try relaunching the game to see if it makes a difference?

Ive had the same problem ...I added sims 4 university and it crashes every time it opens or shortly after....ive tried going in and deleting the cach stuff in the file and going offline to play ....neither works...I am a foster mom and I only get to play this most of the time ...its my favorite ...I hope we can fix it....Foster mom40

I just bought TS4 base game yesterday and quickly started dealing with a bug in which my task bar is stuck in my fullscreen game. It ended up crashing and it borked my Origin. Even new games in TS4 crashed. Then I tried TS3 and it also crashed. The only thing I could do was to manually uninstall and reinstall Origin. It's a bit daunting because you have to mess with the registry but EA has the details in good order. Just be sure to save your registry as the instructions say, just in case. I save mine to the desktop as "Originregistry_xxxxxxxx", with the xs being the date.
