"Your EA play membership has expired" despite game being purchased

★★ Novice

I initially accessed Battlefield 1 through an origin access subscription and later bought the game but for a few months now the play button has been greyed out in origin. When I try to launch the game through the .exe it tells me to renew the membership or buy the game. When I click on the "buy the game" button it takes me to the store page where it says "view in library" because I have already bought it, and when I click "view in library" the play button is greyed out.
