origin

★★ Novice

Hello. I have been playing sims 4 on origin for a while. I recently got stuck on downloading because my disk space wasn't free when the new pack came out, after freeing the disk space it still wouldn't download. I tried everything and nothing worked, so I reinstalled origin from ea website and that worked at downloading the actual origin game. I tried to reinstall sims 4 and nothing is working, it's been stuck on preparing for the last 2 hours. I have quit the game, force quit the game, tried downloading it again, logged out of origin and logged back in, restarted my computer, and freed up more disk space, and nothing. I can't seem to get past preparing. Does anybody have any idea why this won't work?.

Hey @Khalessi31 it looks like something is blocking the install so can you ensure that you are running Origin as administrator and that your firewall and anti-virus are not blocking Origin and that you also have the ports for Origin open.

The ports to open are:

  • TCP: 80; 443; 9960-9969; 1024-1124; 3216; 18000; 18120; 18060; 27900; 28910; 29900
  • UDP: 1024-1124; 18000; 29900

You can also try turning off the routers firewall to see if it helps.

★★★★ Guide

Hello there @Khalessi31 ,

I have a couple things you can try that might help you.

1. Clear your Origin Cache.

2. Change Origin to run as Admin automatically.

Here's How:

-Right Click Origin where ever you have it saved and click 'Properties.'

-Go to the Compatibility Tab. Under 'Settings' check the box that says: Run this program as an administrator.

-Click Apply on the bottom right and then OK after.

-Restart your PC, and try loading up Origin and downloading your game.

3. Some users have reported Signing out of Origin and Signing back in fixed the issue and they could start downloading their game.

4. Right Click Sims 4 in your game library and click repair.

If all else fails, you can get in Contact with an EA Advisor and they will walk you through some troubleshooting steps to get your game downloaded.

I hope you get your game downloaded!
