origin keeps crashing [ Edited ]

Hey guys,

I've searched the internet for about 3 days now and still no solution to my problem.

I had no issues at all on my old PC, but since I'm having a new PC I have diffrent issues with Origin. So Firstly it was installed on HDD drive and I was able to fix the issue deleting the cache, but now I'm using it on a SSD with a new Windows installation and I'm not able to use it. So it worked until I tried to locate my games on my HDD's. After I've added about 5 games to the queque Origin died and I'm unable to use it. Everytime I start it it crashes right after the location process started. And it starts getting on my nerves being unable to play any games over Origin. I've already looked up the log and it says something I have no clue what it could mean.

Those are the last lines of the file. I don't know what this API is for and if this causes the crashes. Can anybody help me?

Hey @EA_Darko,

I fixed the problem by reinstalling Origin. But I still have the problem that everytime I'm installing a DLC for Battlefield 4 or Mass Effect 2 &3 and restarting Origin it wants to install the DLC again (but it still seems like it's already downloaded), so I guess it's not installed.

For SIMS 4 however it magically worked after a bit of trying.

I already tried the following:
- starting Origin as admin

- restarting PC

- restarting Origin

- clearing the cache

What else can I try?

Yes I was. But thats not what is causing the Problem...

I can't install any games or locate them. Origin just crashes or keeps saying "I wasn't able to install the game" even when I try to locate a game. And everytime I'm restarting Origin it installs the games completly new... On my C drive. Thats NOT what I told it. I have a small SSD as C drive so I don't want all my games to be installed on my C drive... Btw, I have lost around 30 GB of storage to that problem and I'm unalbe to free it up again rgardless of what I'm doing...

Edit: I've already lost over 40GB...

Hey @Gruphius I've been trying to recreate this issue and not been able to.

From what you have posted I would imagine that this issue is a system issue, as such let's grab a DxDiag to take a look at your system: https://help.ea.com/en/help/pc/how-to-gather-dxdiag-information/

Hey @EA_Darko,

I was able to get it working again. Not completly (I can't install Battlefront for some reason) and it's extremly annoying, but it "works". I'll add the DxDiag to this post.

But I have an other issiue: Everytime a download failes (and the downloads failed a lost in the last weeks) the downloaded data remains on my C drive for some reason and I'm unable to locate them. It takes about 50 GB on my C drive now. Where can I find those files so I can delete them?

@Gruphius I just started running into this problem today as well. Only, my client crashes as soon as it opens. I've tried all the fixes on the Origin page (5 total) for fixing a crashing Origin client. None worked. That includes uninstalling and reinstalling Origin. It just keeps crashing as soon as it loads (after my username and password are entered and the client loads.

@f03h4mm3r117 I got around this state when I started Origin offline and than activating Restriced Access Mode in the application settings. After that deactivate it again, restart Origin online and than you can delete the game which is downloading from the queue.

If you have no game downloading delete the contents from the following folders:

C:\ProgramData\Origin (except for LocalContent)

C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Local

C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Roaming

{username} is you username ^^
