i cant play populuos or command and conquer generals

I downloaded Populous on my PC and cant play it, every time I click play it syncs but does not play wot can I do

Can you elaborate on that a little?

Origin is syncing?

Any error messages?

Please create a DxDiag in text file format and post it with your next reply.

If you use Windows 7 also go to your Reliability monitor > Press the Windows key and "R" at the same time and copy and paste or type "perfmon /rel" (without the quotes) in the new Window > hit “ENTER” and look if it has entries for the game you have trouble with.

If yes double click at the last entry for the game executable, copy the info to the clipboard, and save it to a text file.

 

You can attach the DxDiag text file you created (and the “Reliability monitor” text file as well) to your post in the “Reply” window with the “Choose File” button.

I too have the same issue with populous so here are my details. I just downloaded it and annoyed that there is this issue. It basically doesn't manage to make it to the loading screen of the game.

With regards to Generals I did have similar problems but only when I tried to mod the version on origin.

So I have attached my dxdiag and the reliability monitor report of the error (at the bottom).

Thanks again for your help and I hope this helps others too. I do believe it is Windows 10/origin issue that is the problem for me and the fact that windows 10 is locked up so tight I can't install an old game from a CD disappoints me. But that's life

Did you tried to run the game in compatibility mode?

Facing same issue here. Populous crashes without any sign. Have tried with compatible mode but still same issue.

Ive tried up to compatibility for windows xp sp2. With run as admin set. Also tried the "Disable full screen optimizations" option as well.

Nothing actually pops up on my screen when i try to run it, but it does seem like the game is trying to run for a few sec my mouse disappears and i can pull it to my other monitor and see it, at this time if i go to the alt+tab list fast enough I can see Populous there, the next second its gone.

Happens pretty fast, faster than i would expect a game to crash on run.
