command and conquer will not load

bought command and conquer pack 6-1-19. when i launch game it throws a prompt window saying i need directx 8.1 or higher. i have directx 11. also suggests my video card may not be able to run the game. i have geforce gt 640 video card which should easily handle the game. need help
