What OS are you running ? 7 or 8 / 8.1 ?

Press the windows key and type %temp% 

delete all the temp folders and files in that temp folder location 

then retry the C++ download i would say the file is corrupted

Edit - can i also confirm you have win 7 SP 1 installed ?

Didn't let me because it said the folder or a file in the folder was "open"

I give up.... All i want to do is play the sims... I'll keep trying tomorrow. This is getting way to frustrating.

See in your screen shot the error code 0x80240017 this is usually caused by a corrupted install which should be in that temp folder location 

You are likely best to boot to a clean boot - https://support.microsoft.com/en-au/help/929135/how-to-perform-a-clean-boot-in-windows

and retry deleting those temp files and folder as this is where the msu setup extracts too, and those extracted files are likely why the install failed.

Just to confirm this will only work/install on a Windows 7 with service pack 1 installed and the windows CRT update I linked previously also needs to be installed or C++ 2015 will not install

I had the same issue. Win 81 pro 64 bit.

Ran the 64bit VCReinst (all three) and Origin was able to start.

Back on Origin. I went to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Qe-4uEfkb8 on youtube. Fixed the problem with windows update as I had a clean install and run into update issues there which affected loading Origin. Origin is working fine now, back to gaming.

I got the same problem and it comes from à mission update on your Windows update.
First use Windows repair
Then adw cleaner (to clean ans malware)
Then use fix it on winupdate

At this time all yours updates Will be installed

Finally reinstall origin


It took me 48h to get this but it works
