The popup appears after I press the 'Download" button and reads "The download server is not responding. Please give it a few moments and try again. If the problem persists, please contact Origin Help."

Sorry to hear that you are having issues @stinkysav.
Do you have any Anti-Virus/Firewall software installed and if so is it blocking Origin. It may be worth disabling both and then trying again.
Try heading to the Origin menu at the top left of the client, Application Settings and Diagnostics. Turn on Safe Mode Downloading and try to download the update again.
