Sims 3 macOS Catalina

★★★ Newbie

When will Sims 3 be adjusted and available for MacOS Catalina? I think it is ridiculous that I paid money for a game that I cannot even use??? I've seen all these 'ways around it' to buy certain apps that transition the content. But none have worked and particularly considering I paid for this product to work - it should automatically be rectified?

I also tried to email EA about my concerns but they do not even have that as an option?

@tsaltyyy  There will be a version of Sims 3 that runs in Catalina, it's just not available yet.  EA has said it should be released in early 2020.  And it will be free for anyone who already owns the game.  Here's the announcement:

In the meantime, no, the game won't work in Catalina.  The only option that wouldn't require buying a Windows key (or a whole new computer) would be to revert your Mac to Mojave, but it sounds like you probably don't want to go this route.

Re: Sims 3 macOS Catalina

@Chibungaa  The updated 64-bit Sims 3 hasn't been released yet; there have been delays both from the current worldwide situation and from certain issues with the update that needed more work.  If you want to read a bit more about the status of the project, an EA employee has been posting in the Sims 3 Mac section.  Here's his latest post:

https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues-Mac/the-sims-3-64-bit-amp-metal-release/m-p/9515276#M8367

That thread will be updated when the update is available or when there's a known release date, as will this one:

https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues-Mac/An-announcement-for-The-Sims-3-players-on-Mac/td-p/82...

But yes, if you bought the game now, you'd need to play in Mojave, or in Windows (whether on another computer or on your Mac through Bootcamp).  You could in theory install Mojave on an external hard drive, if you have at least temporary access to a Mac that hasn't been updated to Catalina or Big Sur, and then boot into that (using your current Mac) when you wanted to play.  Let me know if you'd like more information about that or about Bootcamp.
