I've played the game for many hours, up until a couple years ago- so i know it can run on this device (Macbook Pro, mid 2012). Recently tried replaying, but it wouldn't launch in Origin. I deleted the game and Origin client to attempt redownloading. Origin redownloaded fine, and Sims 4 appears in my games library, but it fails to download every single time. I've reinstalled Origin multiple times now, but it still fails. Notification tells me "Origin was unable to download your game. Please check your internet connectivity or try again later." I've restarted my motim multiple times- internet works, but game continues to fail downloading. I've been trying for day. So frustrated- please help.

Hey @Ss432012 let's try resetting Origin on your Mac to see if it helps: https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/origin/origin/how-to-reset-origin-on-mac/
Let me know how you get on.

thank you! i appreciate the response. i did as suggested, and redownloaded origin but now it's stating "origin servers temporarily unavailable" and that it's "unable to retrieve your list of games." when i go into my games library, it now appears empty. any suggestions? thanks

Sorry to hear that you are still having issues @Ss432012.
Can you take a couple of minutes to try the steps in this help thread: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues-Mac/READ-FIRST-Origin-Troubleshooting-and-Information/m-p...

hey! so i've tried these. it's still not working. I have found both the game and expansion in my order history on the EA website, but every time i try to open up origin with my account log in, it says the servers are unavailable. i can't even re-download the games i've paid for, let alone launch them

@Ss432012 What version of macOS do you have? If you're not sure, click on the Apple icon in the upper left corner of your screen and select About This Mac.

@Ss432012 I'm not surprised; the most recent version (or I guess versions by now) of Origin aren't compatible with Yosemite. But you can install a legacy version of Origin instead. It's first necessary to uninstall the current version and clean out the extra files left behind. Here's how:
https://bluebellflora.com/how-to-uninstall-origin-on-a-mac/
You can download the legacy version from here:
https://www.dm.origin.com/mac/download/legacy
When installing, be sure to uncheck the box to automatically keep Origin and your games up to date, or else Origin will update itself to the current, nonworking version.
Hopefully, your Origin library will load properly, and you'll be able to redownload all your content.
