Problem installing Origin

★★★ Newbie

Hello! Just re-installed my Windows (updated in Jan2018) and i'm trying to download the Origin launcher.

First, i had 2 problems with some dlls files but i've downloaded them via google. But after i see an error: "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000007b). Click OK to close the application." I searched on google solutions and i tried the one with Redist Installer. Still same problem.

Hey @iSebastiaNNN

It sounds like there might still be some system files missing from Windows. When you have a chance I'd recommend downloading the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable to see if that helps. I've seen cases where this has recovered the missing files Origin needs in order to install.

For more info on how to download it check out the Microsoft Support Website. Let me know if that helps.

Hi @iSebastiaNNN

Were you able to try what I suggested? Are you still having trouble getting Origin installed?

Downloading files, which you can find on a random website, might look good, but can cause trouble, @iSebastiaNNN.

If you're missing some files like MSVCR#.dll or MSVCP#.dll, then you must download these Visual C++ Redistributable Packages from the Microsoft website. Link to the webpage was already given. Begin with youngest year.

Where # stands for a number.
140 stands for Microsoft Visual C++ 2017
130 stands for Microsoft Visual C++ 2015
120 stands for Microsoft Visual C++ 2013

For a 64-bit version of Windows, you need to install both.
If there's shown an option to repair it, try that one first.

You might close any running (background) application, because they might prevent installing these packages. For example, security software. A clean start of Windows well help too. See: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/929135/how-to-perform-a-clean-boot-in-windows
Also run these installation packages as an Administrator, with (temporary) disabling the User Account Control (UAC).

Please check for available updates, download and install anyone. Including the optional updates. Restart your computer. Repeat these steps.

Versions 2015, 2017 and 2019 share the same files.

For the 0xc000007b error
If you’re getting the "0xc000007b error" for Windows 10 and you’re having trouble installing any of the VC++ versions, it might be because Windows 10 disables NET Framework by default.
To enable NET Framework:
Open the "Control Panel".
Search for Control Panel in the "Start" menu to find it.
Click "Uninstall a program" under "Programs".
Click "Turn Windows features on or off".
Click the + next to all of the NET Framework options you see, usually 3.5 and 4.6, and check the boxes.
Reinstall VC++ x64 and x86 for 2010 and 2013.
Restart your computer when asked.

This should fix that error and get Origin up and running on your computer.

Please let us know if this works for you.

Regards.
