Origin wont load except for gray boxes

My origin wont load at all. It lets me sign in then it goes to a screen that is gray boxes and the origin logo to the side. It wont let me play the sims either. Ive tried just using it offline but it won't load anything, then .I uninstalled it and reinstalled it but that didn't help and actually removed my expansion pack. I also tried deleting all the cached files. I'm at a loss on what to do. It used to run fine and I went a few weeks without playing. It then had an update and afterwards I played the sims 3 times offline. I went online to buy a new expansion pack and this happens.

@britleigh117  Usually the advice is to clear your cache files, and if that doesn't work, to uninstall Origin "the hard way" and then reinstall.  Are these the instructions you've followed?

If they didn't help, then the next most likely cause of the issue is that your antivirus/firewall is blocking Origin.  You can try disabling it temporarily, just long enough to test, an if necessary, you can set an exception for Origin (and TS3.exe as well).

For the missing expansion pack, if it doesn't reappear on its own (which has been known to happen), you'll need to contact EA customer support so that someone on that end can look at your account.  The pack may have been deactivated, either by mistake or because you received a bad code.  It would be helpful if you could provide proof of purchase or ownership (i.e. receipt; photos of disc, case, and insert with code printed on it) to the support rep.

I have uninstalled. Would my antivirus suddenly not allow it when it was working yesterday? I buy my games on the origin app online. No disc.

@britleigh117  A regular uninstall wouldn't remove the hidden files listed in the links, which is why I asked.  Those files have to be deleted manually.

As to why Origin suddenly stopped working, it happens.  Aside from a stale cache file, the problem could be caused by an update to your antivirus (suddenly blocking an Origin function that it allowed before), or Origin suddenly doing something that it didn't before, a function that your antivirus always blocks.

If doing a manual uninstall and setting an exception for Origin don't help, you may need to troubleshoot your connection.  Here's a good place to start:

@6578399  If you're running Windows, have you tried the earlier suggestions?  (clear Origin's cache, uninstall the hard way, troubleshoot your connection)  It would help to know what steps you've already taken that didn't work.
