@MaxiBee808 The issue depends on which version of macOS you're running. (If you're not sure which one you have, click the Apple icon in the upper left corner of your screen and select About This Mac.) The current version of Origin doesn't work in Yosemite, but you can download a legacy version instead. First though, do a clean uninstall to remove all traces of the existing Origin install from your computer. Here's how:

When installing, be sure to uncheck the box to automatically keep Origin and your games up to date, or else Origin will update itself to the current, nonworking version.
If you have a later OS, you can try these steps to troubleshoot. Start with an Origin reset, and if that doesn't help, make sure proxies are disabled. Instructions for each step are in this link:

Why should they when we people here fix it for them. Two new versions and they still have not fixed it. I guess we just have to keep disabling USB port until we get the right one.

SOLUTION:
system preferences > Network > advanced settings > proxies and I had one running so I unchecked it applied changes and Orgins worked.
Strange though because the Origin client let me change my password so it had a connection, but for some reason wouldnt fully connect.

Oh my F***ing GOD!
I have seen the USB posts for a few days now (Remove your USB drive), I thought they were referring to a Thumb Drive. It wasn't until the screenshot of the Card Reader that it dawned on me...I looked at the front of my PC and there it was, a micro SD (in an adapter) sitting in the Card Reader slot. I pulled it out and allowed Origin to update, and I am now on the latest version without issue!!! I didn't have to disable the Card Reader, I just had to remove the SD Card.
But WHY should that create an issue for the Origin Client?!! And why can't EA figure this out?!!
Congrats to whoever figured this out. I gave XP to the user that posted the screenshots.
For those who say disabling it doesn't work, or they don't have anything in their USB slot (check the card reader slots too) Here is the WORKAROUND to install the older/working version of the Origin Client:
This is a temporary workaround
You have to uninstall the Origin Client, then download and install an older version of the client (the version before the problem was introduced). Support gave me this link:

The only problem is, every time you exit and restart the Origin client, it will force you to update to the broken version again. So you will have to uninstall and reinstall ... again.

They are never going to fix it. They are just going to keep suggesting the same crap that doesn't work. Tried all their suggestions, none of them worked. I'm done with EA!!!

I read that it may be because it's a way (for EA) to block hacks and stuff like that

As a fellow game, I am sharing this with all...
I had my son look at the origin client. He is studying to be a programmer.
I am running windows 8.1 and it has not been working for OVER A MONTH without reinstalling 10.5.41 every time.
He got it working by copying the OriginClient.dll, OriginClientService.exe and OriginWebService.exe from the 10.5.41 version to the Origin directory.
Also add /noUpdate to your origin shortcut.
After that problem solved. No need to reinstall 10.5.41.
EA needs to review these files as this seemed to be the files causing the issue...

I have had the same problem for a few days, tried everything imaginable including:
and what solved the problem was very very strange, I recently switched to 5-ghz router, changing the router settings to 2.5ghz on the same router magically fixed the problem!!!
I have no idea why this would change anything..........
anyway I hope this will help someone.....
