Origin is incorrectly reading my hard drive space

★ Apprentice

I have 200gb of free space, but Origin gives me the "Your computer does not have enough space available to download this game. Please free up some space on your hard drive and try downloading again." message.

From the Start menu, select Computer.
Select the C: drive.
Select the ProgramData folder. If this folder does not appear, press Alt, select Tools, then Folder Options. Select the View tab, then check Show hidden files, folders, and drives.
Right-click the Origin folder and select Delete.

You may need to run the disk defrag to make the free space all one big block instead of scattered slivers.

The Disk Defrag did not help.

I bought and registered The Sims 3, and seven expansion packs.

My computer was having problems, so I decided to uninstall them. As I prepare to reinstall the base game, I get this error message. The expansion packs will download without a problem, but without the base game installed, they're a waste of time.

You bumped an old topic so your issue might not be related to what these users were experiencing.

Could you clarify your exact issue and any related error messages? Note that if you are having issues with disc space that you check that you HDD is not formatted as a FAT32.

Hard disk full when downloading - HD lots of room left

★★★ Newbie

When downloading a game, it keeps saying hard disk is full when I have a lot of room (about 1 TB). Keeps pausing and unable to finish download. Suggestions?

@jeffknyc

Do you have multiple drives in your system?  Do you possibly have Origin set to download to a drive that is almost full?
