Origin intentionally crashes my game while I'm playing.

Chose to play in Offline mode. Game starts. I'm in the middle of a firefight and almost succeeding when - BANG - the game crashes and Origin oh, sorry, gotta update Origin to latest version. What's the effing point of having the option to play in Offline mode if they're literally going to make it crash in mid-game so they can force an update on you?

Is there any way to avoid this?

I definitely don't want the Origin app auto-updating itself, either.

You can effectively disable automatic Origin and game updates as follows: 

Click the Origin menu, Application Settings, Client Update section - turn OFF automatically update Origin/games.

Origin Auto-update has been turned off for a long time.
